Wind power, as an alternative to fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation and uses little land. The overall cost per unit of energy produced is similar to the cost for new coal and natural gas installations. Any effects on the environment are generally less problematic than those from other power sources.

    Bergey Turbines

Bergey wind turbines are available in three sizes, 5 kW and 10 kW units primarily used for reducing utility bills and a 1 kW primarily used for off-grid applications. These models have been installed in thousands of sites around the world and are market leaders in performance and reliability. If you are looking for a wind turbine for your home the Bergey Excel 5 or Excel 10 is the model for you.

    Excel 1

The Excel 1, with a rotor diameter of 2.5 meters (8.2 ft) and a peak output of approximately 1,300 watts, is intended for the off-grid home market in the U.S., telecommunication sites, and for rural electrification programs in developing countries. It is also a perfect upgrade system for current owners of solar-only off-grid systems.

Very quiet operation is achieved with advanced rotor design and an oversized alternator that reduces the rotor operating speed.

Low wind speed performance is greatly enhanced by a low-end-boost circuit that optimally loads the wind turbine down to wind speeds as low as 5.6 mph.

The Excel 1 is often used in conjunction with solar to provide more reliable year-round energy supply.

    Excel 5

The new Bergey Excel 5 is ideal for smaller and more efficient homes, farms, and small businesses. Its extra large rotor and ultra low cut-in wind speed give it exceptional performance, out producing all other turbines in its class.

    Recommended for:

    Smaller, more efficient homes.
Smaller, more efficient farms and businesses.
Small to medium size telecommunication sites.

Connected to the grid, the Bergey Excel 5 can offset energy consumption for an efficient home, farm, or business at a moderate wind site.

    excel 10

The Excel 10 is a modern 7 meter (23 ft) diameter, 10,000W wind turbine designed for high reliability, low maintenance, and automatic operation in adverse weather conditions. It is available in two configurations: battery charging and grid-connected.

    Recommended for:

    Large rural homes.
    Remote villages and facilities.
    Eco-tourism resorts.
    Larger telecommunication sites.

Connected to the grid, the Excel 10 can provide most of the electricity for an average total electric home at moderate wind sites.

    Bergey Towers

When choosing the tower for your Bergey system height is a key factor. A tower that is too short for the site is like putting a solar system in the shade.
